Compass - User Guide

Congratulations on joining the Compass ecosystem!

Now you have access to the best tools for keeping track of your winemaking, from grape to glass.

Below you’ll find tips and guidance for how to make the most of each Compass product.

Mount Installation

We recommend using a Tracker to ensure Mounts are attached at an appropriate minimum height.

  1. Lean a Tracker against the fermenting bucket or carboy.

  2. Remove the protective tape from the Mount’s adhesive foam pads.

  3. Rest the bottom edge of the Mount on the top edge of the Tracker.

  4. Lightly press the Mount against the bucket or carboy and ensure you are happy with its placement. If not, gently remove the Mount and try again!

  5. Once satisfied, press firmly over both adhesive pads for 10 seconds.

  6. Due to the high strength of the magnets on the Mount and Tracker please wait 24 hours before using the magnetic attachment so that the adhesive can set.

Remember: unsecured magnets can be dangerous! Keep away from children and pets.

Tracker Use

The Tracker features a clip design that may be unfamiliar.

  1. Press on the lever where indicated ‘PUSH’.

  2. Direct the lever down (towards the bottom edge of the Tracker) slightly to release clip.

  3. Position Recipe Card (or other document) and re-seat the lever.

Recipe Card

Recipe cards provide an easy to follow guide for making wine.

  • Key steps are indicated with numbers, while optional ones letters.

  • Suggested Ratios are indicated in blue text to the right of each step.

  • There is a place to write next to most steps as well, perfect for ratio adjustments, or other information you want to keep a record of.

  • When a step requires waiting time after, it is indicated with an orange bar below it.

Archive Use

Archives fit perfecting in 3-ring binders, like Blushworks’ Vault!

  • Each one is intended to divide your binder by batch.

  • Batches can be marked on the side tabs.

  • Materials and ingredients used can be recorded, as well as key dates and extra information collected during the process.

  • There is a perfect spot for sticking your Recipe Card once bottled - now everything is in one place!

  • On the back are some guided areas for documenting the tasting experience, allowing you to learn from the wine and catalogue your successes!

DISCLAIMER:

WARNING — INTERNAL INJURY HAZARD

Swallowed magnets can damage internal organs and have resulted in DEATH and SERIOUS INJURIES.

These magnets are NOT toys. Keep away from ALL children.

NEVER put magnets near your mouth or nose. Magnet ingestions are often accidental and there is a possibility that they will occur from:

Young children finding loose or missing magnets.

Older children and teens playing with magnets in their mouths or nose and imitating piercings.

Be aware of dropped or separated magnets. When not in use, locate all magnets and count them individually or return them to the following shape to be sure that none are missing. Store all magnets safely away from children, and in a secure storage container.

Seek immediate medical attention or contact the poison control center immediately if you think magnets were ingested. It is possible that X-rays or prompt surgical removal will be required. Do not wait for symptoms to appear as it is feasible that by then it will be too late for medical intervention.

Symptoms of magnet ingestion are often non-specific (abdominal pain, fever, etc.) and can take anywhere from hours to weeks to appear. By then, the damage can be severe. Untreated ingestions of magnets are likely to cause intestinal blockage, perforation, bleeding, infection, and death.

Keep away from Pets.
